1. Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde is the seventh album by the American rock band the Byrds and was released in March on Columbia Records (see in music). The album was produced by Bob Johnston and saw the band juxtaposing country rock material with psychedelic rock, giving the album a stylistic split-personality that was alluded to in its title. It was the first album to feature the new band line Genre: Rock, country rock, folk rock, psychedelic rock.

3. Unfortunately, the public reactions to "Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde" were as mixed as the country and rock influences it contained. But time has aged the album well, as it is a glimpse at the Beginning of the End for the illusions of the flower-power age, and it is a refreshing example of a band starting from scratch while keeping their feet in two /5(48).

So back to the music: This Wheels on Fire is here in a version I prefer to both Julie Driscoll and to the Band /5(48).

8. After the departure of three band members that played on Sweetheart Of The Rodeo, Roger McGuinn had to assemble a new line-up for The Byrds.. Especially their new guitarist Clarence White really shines on Dr. Byrds & Mr. Hyde. The pedal steel guitar work is particularly fantastic, the arrangements are inventive and Roger's distinctive nasal-pitched vocals are confident and inspired.
